From the Facebook page:
The complete silence from Labour's PPC, Fran Boait, and other party members over this seems counter-productive, as
honesty would seem to be the best policy, even if it (deservedly) throws Angela Porter under the bus. Labour in Gloucester has to banish this image of a group which hides every dirty little secret, and buries failed initiatives like the 'Community Organising Day' back in January, which has achieved zero results (I'm more than willing to see that statement challenged).
Climate Change is a big issue for the party, with it's 'Green New Deal', and candidates in Gloucester can't dodge this until the scheduled tree planting on the 21st (the one apparent fact we've been given), let alone Election Day.
From the Facebook page:
Joe Kilker So this [Tuesday, 5th November], morning, just after 9, at the constituency Labour party's office at Messenger House, I was told by Angela Porter, party treasurer and described by her Twitter bio as a 'founder member of Gloucester Climate Action Partnership', that she was 'too busy' to answer my questions about the partnership. Even though I am one of the constituents whose votes she needs to win a seat on the city council, this election, and had just volunteered to spend a couple of hours delivering leaflets.
Assuming the event above has not been cancelled - and the people in charge of this page haven't said so - Porter is not going to be 'too busy' for the tree planting, and that is a huge distraction mere weeks before Polling Day.
*Unless* she thinks this event will improve her chances of being elected with a bit of 'greenwashing', in which case it is being organised (for want of a better word) for party political purposes.
So never mind the question of who's paying for the trees, or why 'Dom Marsh' hasn't contacted me, when Porter says she's passed my details to him, or who this 'partnership' is actually comprised of. I've got just one question, which I'll keep asking until the 21st, of anyone who claims to represent the Labour party in Gloucester.
Has this event been cancelled/postponed, or not?
