I am surprised you have not put up a red flag outside the Gateway Centre on a pole!
Make sure you put this letter on your twitter feed and in the Citizen newpaper too. Regards, comrade

Welcome to the inaugural thread of this board, specially created for the General Election which is now upon us.
The note above, as well as the more in-depth comment below, has attracted a fair amount of sniping from Haigh supporters, but seems pretty tame to me, apart from the jibes about appearance, which are never necessary. Having been blocked from Haigh's blog comments for, as far as I can remember, just asking questions, and simultaneously blocked on Twitter before I knew she had an account, I'm not surprised that anonymity is the preferred course. Give her a name, and you give her a person to block. Use anonymity, and you might, and evidently did, provoke her into sharing your words far and wide.
So, is it fair? One might argue that you don't know what you're getting with a 'new wave of councillors', although Tom Coole is probably a good example. Along with Angela Porter, current treasurer for the Constituency Labour Party and aspiring to be a councillor in Barton & Tredworth, as fine an example of 'wokeness' as you could find. Might want to fix the local party before you try to fix the councillors'.
Dear Comrade Haigh,
I must congratulate you on circulating my letter amongst the voters of Matson and Robinswood. You may have shot yourself in the foot by allowing all your potential voters to sum up my remarks, and wonder if I have got it right, than you comrade.
I am beginning to wonder if you are a control freak, you don't appear to like criticism, and putting my letter next to your rather plain face staring out towards the readers in the Citizen newspaper was rather weird. What an odd person you are.
After decades of Labour rule and control in the Matson area it has only gone downhill, into a sink estate, full of crappy dirty concrte high rise flats and houses that should have been knocked down and replaced many years ago by brick built dwellings. I myself used to live in one of those stinking concrete flats, full of concrte cancer and black mould.
I was wondering, do you and the other Labour councillors live yourselves in these concrete council properties? All these hard working Matson citizens deserve to be rehoused in well built new homes and all the disabled too. The Matson pensioners deserve better too, after giving the country 50 or more years of work and benefits. Build thnem more bungalows in secure areas, so they can give their large three bedroom homes for the next generation of families.
Many years ago Coney Hill used to be a sink estate with a terrible reputation. It has been transformed, and today is a safe area to live, with a thriving local school, teaching respect to the local pupils.
Matson and Robinswood needs a new generation of radical councillors who will make a difference, and put the time and effort into making it happen.
I am an ex shop steward in a "closed shop" industry, I am also an ex member of the Labour Party and ex forces, who votd for Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Paty in the last general election. I, my parents and all my grandparents were working class, and we all lived in council houses, so do me a favour, just listen for once and do the right thing, make way for a new wave of councillors. The same plea to Jeremy Corbyn, go now for the sake for the country and the working class, so we can defeat the Tories and bring in some radical humane policies.
Far too many citizens will not vote for Corbyn, he is viewed as unelectable and dangerous, so he should go now before we suffer a terrible defeat in the next election.
Regards, Comrade Citizen Smith
