If you want to represent a whole ward, then surely you have ten friends in that ward who want to support you. Sure, but all the other candidates will have been nominated by 'friends', with thoughts of what they will get out of a victor. If a mere ten rsidents aren't prepared to put someone forward who can't win, but will genuinely challenge the party procrastinators over their previous performances, then I not only shouldn't run, but I should stop bothering my arse to give a curly one about potholes, bad parking, broken streetlights, thuggish police and 'community leaders' who hide discussions from the community, to name just a few bugbears. But how hard can it be? And what would it take to make you, as a resident, decide that someone was worth nominating? And I had to re-post this, after accidentally deleting it, along with what looked like a double post caused by a slow connection this morning (good job I snapped the draft, just in case). Gives me a chance to point out one other thing, though, which is that I'll also be pledging to challenge the Citizen over their deplorable management of their website, letting down a dwindling readership. Imagine how that will look in the paper, when they publish the candidate profiles.

I'm sorry to bring reality into this Joe, but if you can't find even ten people who agree with what you say, then how are you ever going to become an elected official?

You've ignored my question. What do you look for in a candidate who's seeking your nomination? Are you happy with the bunch you'e got currently, and not interested in getting them to be more accountable to their constituents?
Remind me what you've done to encourage this, if anything, and re-assure me that I wasn't mistaken in allowing 'guests' to post annonymously, and take free pops at me for my own efforts?

PS, did you miss the bit where I said that becoming an elected official wasn't the point of standing?

(Put here just in case) What would be really staggering is if I could sign on to your website right now*, to post this about the council meeting where community funding will be discussed, on Thursday... 'That sounds like it might be worth filming, if the council doesn't put a lot of obstacles in the way.' Or, if you published the relevant article here as well, so I could post the comment where it needs to be. * as always, even when I manage to log on, I don't *stay* logged on. www.facebook.com/GlosCitizen/?fref=ts---------------------------------- The new lights on our street seem to have dimmed since they were installed. Is it possible to do that, and if so, has it been done? ---------------------------------- It's kind of funny watching Saj Patel posing next to an illegally parked vehicle, especially as it's the same cruiser that regularly parks on DYLs across the entrance to the Al Ashraf primary 'school' on Stratton Rd when children are leaving, despite the fact that a car park for parents has been provided. But then, Sajid Patel's message has always been about parking where you want, legally or otherwise. Same as Richard Graham. ---------------------------------- Shouldn't there be three candidates, including Saj Patel? Are you waiting to unveil Ismail Ali? The three comments above were posted on the Barton & Tredworth Conservatives Facebook page. It'll be interesting to see if they stay there... www.facebook.com/BTConservatives/?fref=ts

I'm keeping a note that I've reported this comment, sent on June 27, 20:16, 11:25am, on the EU Referendum article:
Despite complaints, from various readers, about this person's behaviour on the website, you have done nothing, despite promising much. It is time to fulfill those promises.

Sent to Google/Youtube's 'help desk': www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAoQNSz0cXw&feature=youtu.beAs far as I can tell, I didn't receive any answer to my previous question about this. If no-one will give me details about who has complained of a copyright violation, I can't re-post the clip without risking this 'violation' all over again. Then again, who complains about the music that accompanies a firework display? Does anyone try to pirate short sections of a song, accompanied with loud bangs and people talking? And get them muted barely half an hour after posting? I was stuck close to the speakers because the city council gave zero time between the tightrope act ending, and the display starting, and I couldn't move to a better spot from which to film it. Which actually made the whole thing more immersive, and then this mute... So I'd at least like to know who complained.

Joe Kilker Who's the county councillor responsible for the area this reported case is in? As it still wasn't dealt with yesterday, nine months after I originally reported the problem, and 26 days since Amey finally acknowledged awareness of the report, I shall have to take an axe up there to remove the blockage, if it isn't gone in a week. Does the council/Amey/Glos Constabulary have a problem with that? www.fixmystreet.com/report/814647Glevum Way blocked, by Archdeacon Meadow behind Tesco's - Viewing a… fixmystreet.com www.facebook.com/pages/Gloucestershire-County-Council/242363598572
