This is just one example of a progressive council making its meetings available to all residents, not just those who can make the time to attend in person, and have the wherewithal to get to them. Gloucester City Council is not one of them, despite being asked by me several times about the 'facilities' Eric Pickles says that council should offer. The basic one is that we should be able to hear councillors in recordings, but either because speakers are too high, or because they're not even turned on, sound is far from optimal in any of the recordings I've made. I still hope to have a discussion with the coucil about this, but they've ignored my requests via Twitter over several months now. So we won't be hearing anything this clear for a while... centralbedfordshire.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/230365

I wonder if others could share their own experiences of what efforts their councils make to provide video, or even audio footage, of their meetings to residents? There's never a better time than the run-up to a general election to contrast the forward thinking and open-minded council leaders with the ones who put/leave needless obstacles in the way of transparency and accountability.
