In a 'Labour Rose' leaflet I happened to find in the street before Xmas (the party would never go near my letter box, seemingly), county councillor Jasminder Gill is quoted as saying:
"I want to use county council funding to bring a new children's play area to Ayland Gardens. Currently this large open area has no play facilities, which means children have to walk long distances to play. I want to change this and I will be meeting with the city council to discuss my plans to build a new play facility very soon."
Now, below can be seen draught specifications in a document, the city council's St James Park Open Space Strategy - Barton & Tredworth Ward Open Space Action Plan (for consultation), June 2015, for improvements for various open spaces in Barton & Tredworth, including Ayland Gardens. It's obvious that a lot of work has already gone into this, for the first half of the year, if not a lot longer. Yet somehow, Jasminder Gill thinks she has a 'plan' that she will 'discuss' with the city council, and my tweets to our two Labour city councillors, Usman Bhaimia and Ahmed Hansdot, asking why they haven't clued her up about the real plans, have been ignored. Ditto for the local party's Facebook page, where questions about what's actually happening in Gloucester are never answered.
I'd like to see any credit for planned improvements to go where it's due, not to our invisible councillors.
Incidentally, I tweeted the above url to The Citizen around Xmas too, suggesting they might like to publicise it to readers. I've seen no evidence that they did so.
