I just posted the comment below the link to the article linked to, as I'm still no nearer to getting answers from Usman Bhaimia. Below that is my email to Sally Godwin, so hoping for a response there...
Parking woe as yellow lines spring up in Barton
Usman Bhaimia always tells the paper that there has been no consultation abut (sic) line alterations, and then, when I quiz the council via a Freedom of Information request (https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/barton_st_yellow_line_alteration#outgoing-470323), they show that there was consultation. He doesn't seem to go to the trouble of checking his facts before making such declarations.
That said, I tried to obtain details of this 'update' with the same request, and was told that Bhaimia was updated verbally, so this information was not subject to FoI. As he won't say what he was told, I'm going to ask Sally Godwin directly, and see if I get an answer that way. Watch this space, and/or glospolitics.freeforums.net.
Incidentally, the explanation of the council for their compromise is gobbledygook. It doesn't alter the fact that spaces have been lost, and motorists, including Bhaimia, are now parking on double yellow lines instead. DYLs mean one thing, no parking AT ANY TIME. Not at 9am, not at midnight, not at 3 in the morning. The Citizen used to carry stories about drivers being fined when they parked fractionally on a DYL, now blind eyes are turned enthusiastically, because it suits, the recent parking review in the ward clearly failing to identify this stretch as suitable for single yellow lines with some restrictions. Does Bhaimia or either of our other two councillors recognise this failure?
Email to Sally Godwin:
Hi,
Please tell me the nature of this 'update' you provided to Usman Bhaimia, since he won't divulge this information to residents?
